What’s Next in JoshTheSysEngineer: Unveiling the Future Direction

Personal

Over the past couple of years, I have thought about starting a blog time and time again. I created a few Github.io based blogs and spun up some posts.

I have never taken it seriously…

My goal from now and for the rest of 2024 is to publish a of minimum 1 blog post per week.

My Goals

  1. Improve writing skills.
  2. Gain a deeper understanding of technologies.
  3. Share the knowledge that I have gained over the past 10 years.

Where will I start?

Home Lab Setup
Working in the corporate world I have constantly spun up lab environments. Typically these labs are provided by work. Before being in IT I ran multiplayer servers for video games I enjoyed, I always had some type of lab.

I want to run through the full process of creating a lab, starting specifically with Active Directory. A full on-premises domain.

Active Directory, Group Policy, System Center Configuration Manager, AD Certificate Services, Branch Cache & DFS, and more.

The first set of blog powers will be related to a local Active Directory environment specifically. Managing an environment the way of the old gods.

Then, and only then will the series transition into Migrating to the cloud and adopting a hybrid environment.

I have experience in managing both on-prem and cloud environment and experience migrating between the two.

I think this will be a great place to start.

Who knows, maybe someone will actually read this one day.
